I hope you all had a very special and happy Valentine’s Day! I am a day late with this post, but I was busy yesterday celebrating with my sweetheart and staying clear from work and the computer. We did such fun things as working out at the gym and cleaning our house…how romantic! And, my present to him was doing the laundry. We’ve been traveling around so much the laundry hamper had begun to take over our room. He did, however, agree to accompany my sister and I to the afternoon showing of Valentine’s Day. And, I will say it is cute and a great vday movie for all!

My sister, Katie, and I happen to have the same taste in movies…and, on more occasions than one she has left me a message saying she just came out of such and such movie while I am in the same such and such movie. So, naturally it made sense to see Valentine’s Day together while she was in town over the weekend. We are both in the habit of seeing movies by ourselves. It’s something I picked up in NYC over a decade ago…whoa! When I first moved there I didn’t know many people, so I would often sneak into a movie alone as the previews were starting. Now, 10 years later, I find my sister living in the big apple doing the same. Although, now I’d say we’re both proud to be seeing movies by ourselves…and, we have each other to chat with about them. I love the movies! I know I have blogged about that before, but there is just something about getting totally lost in someone else’s story…I love it!

So, there’s my tangent for the day. I have Avatar in 3D on my radar for this week. I normally see movies when they first some out, but I have been pushing that one back and back. But, I’m told I will love it. So, keep you posted!

Here’s a little valentine I made for my friend Regan out of her mini-session V-day pics! Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

I am so excited Sara Morris Photography is being featured in the show home at this year’s Indianapolis Home Show. Each year at the fairgrounds, they build a house as the centerpiece of the show and showcase what is new and exciting in all things homey. This year’s theme was reuse and vintage, so my style just fit. They even had a vintage door being used as the kitchen table! Sound familiar! My favorite part is the old door with the frames attached in the bathroom. This is the second one that we’ve made over the year. I think it’s such an incredible unique way to show off your kids. My friend Julie at Bella Chic Interiors has a great selection of old doors to choose from. You can lean it against a wall, attach it as a door…there are so many fun ways to display it!

The Home Show is at the Indiana State Fairgrounds through February, 7th. Details can be found here: www.IndianapolisHomeShow.com

I was having a bout with insomnia a few months back, and couldn’t sleep. So, while Greg snored away I was secretly reading Twitter with my comforter pulled over my head. It’s amazing how bright those iphones can be. Anyway, as I read through tweets about photography workshops, Big Brother, the latest from CNN, more Big Brother I found the most amazing tweet from Lena Hyde of Design Aglow: seeking beautiful studios to feature in upcoming issues! Me being exhausted, yet unable to sleep thought well, I’ve got some new shots of the studio, let’s give it a try. I jumped out of bed as Greg mumbled something…and, I replied something along the lines of email, pictures, TWITTER, Lena…and, I think he was back to snoring by the time Twitter came out of my mouth. I ran down to the computer, emailed over a few pictures at some ungodly hour, and low and behold I received a call from the one and only Lena Hyde the next day. We spoke a bit about the studio, why I decided to go forward with it, how I decorated, etc. I couldn’t believe we were just chatting away like we were long lost friends. Next thing I know I receive an email about submitting photos, and another about scheduling an interview, and we were off!

For those of you nonphotography friends reading, Lena Hyde is an incredible children’s photographer residing in Palm Beach, Florida. She hosted a workshop, Learnfest, with 3 other photographers last April…right around the time I was deciding what my next step was for my business. It truly is because of Learnfest that I decided to take the leap with opening the studio. Lena also has a company called Design Aglow. I draw a lot of inspiration from their blog, and have utilized many of their product offerings over the years. It is one on my most coveted websites to visit!

To not only be on their blog right now, but to be a part of Issue #10: The Next Big Thing, is a huge honor for me. I definitely don’t think I am the next big thing, but I like to think I am always trying to search out what is new and different for my business and for my clients. Design Aglow has definitely been a part of that! So, without further ado, here are a few snippits from the article currently out. The whole article is 18 pages long, so I am unable to post it in it’s entirety. But, I would definitely recommend purchasing the fabulous Issue #10. It is over 170 beautifully crafted pages, with incredible stories and loads of inspiration!

It’s fun to have some downtime and have a chance to look back over the year at what I have done. In doing so, I realized I never posted some shots from a few studio sessions I did. If you follow my blog, you already know that I am a huge fan of location work. I scour the city looking for new fun spots to shoot in. So, when this studio opportunity came available, I was a little hesitant. But, to have the chance to just focus in on the little ones was a lot of fun, and I had some great little models to work with. With the sun away for the next few months, I’m thinking of doing some more studio sessions. Some new funky backdrops recently arrived, so I’ll get some shots up of those soon!

For my old school blog readers, you may remember this post where I began a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. And, let me tell you it was a hard list to make! So, as the the new year is kicking off, and really the fact that I caught an incredible sailfish over the holiday break, I thought it would be the perfect time to revisit my list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. As I read over it, I was excited over the things that had happened, saddened by things I realize will never be able to occur, and am now looking forward to the ones to come. I have highlighted the numbers I can now check off as complete, and linked them to blog entries of where I have mentioned such events. If you have made a list like this I encourage you to go back and revisit it. And, if you have yet to make a list…get on it! What a snapshot of things to come!
